Consisting of a group of islands located in the Mediterranean Sea, 3 of which are inhabitable, Malta is one of the smallest countries worldwide and the smallest in the European Union. Comprising only around 300 square kilometers, Malta is also among the European countries with the lowest population. Less than half a million people are living in Malta, the vast majority in the capital of the state, Valetta. With almost the whole population living in cities, Malta is amid the most urbanized countries globally.
