Once especially known for the beloved TV dinner, the frozen food sector has changed tremendously: taste and quality have largely improved, and shopper traffic in the frozen food aisle has been on the increase. Frozen ready meals were, by far, the largest segment of the total ready meal market, with annual sales reaching over 20 billion U.S. dollars. In comparison, chilled ready meals made around one-tenth of the sales, indicating a clear preference for frozen convenience among shoppers.
