Global gasoline and diesel market - statistics & facts
The world produces around two billion metric tons of motor gasoline and diesel oil every year. Road fuels are the most used oil products and regularly determine demand trends for crude oil. Most recently, market growth for these fuels has slowed amid greater adoption of electric vehicles by large automobile markets such as Europe and China. The United States is by far the largest consumer of motor gasoline, using up nearly three times as much as China, the world's second largest consumer.
