Since 1990, the suppression costs of wildfires in the U.S. have increased more than 11-fold, from below 400 million U.S. dollars to a record high of 4.4 billion dollars in 2021. With climate change intensifying the perfect conditions for wildfire spread, these events are becoming costlier and deadlier.
