Construction industry in Mexico - statistics & facts
Mexico has the largest construction industry in Latin America. In 2024, the gross domestic product (GDP) of construction in Mexico was nearly twice that of Brazil. That was despite Brazil having a larger population and being the largest economy in Latin America. This has been because the construction industry has played a particularly big role in Mexico. While on average construction made up 4.9 percent of the GDP in Latin America in 2024, the GDP share of construction in Mexico reached 6.6 percent in the same year. After a strong 2024, the Mexican construction sector faced declines in 2025. However, 2026 promises recovery in infrastructure projects.
