Construction industry in Latin America - statistics & facts
In a region as large and diverse as Latin America, the size of the construction sector varies a lot from one country to another. While construction represented over a tenth of the economy in some parts of Central America and the Caribbean in 2023, the GDP share of the construction industry was lower in most of the countries in the region. In Peru, Mexico, and Chile, the sector made up between five and eight percent of their GDP, while it amounted to less than four percent in Brazil, Argentina, and Bolivia. Nevertheless, Brazil had the second-largest construction sector in Latin America in absolute terms that year, after Mexico, whose construction revenue was much higher than that of any other country in the region.
