Millennials' mental health in the U.S.- Statistics and Facts
Mental health has become a pressing issue in the United States, particularly among millennials, a generation born between 1981 and 1996. Millennials were the largest generation group in the United States in 2023, making up approximately 22 percent of the population, and are sometimes referred to as the "anxiety generation,". Research indicates that millennials experience higher rates of anxiety, depression, and stress compared to the previous generations. Millennials were twice as likely to report poor mental health status compared to the boomer generation. Major depression was among the top ten health conditions affecting millennials in the United States. Studies have shown that behavioral health conditions are linked to an increase in chronic diseases.
