Fresenius, headquartered in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, Germany, is presently one of the biggest medical technology companies in the world. The company is split into two main segments, namely Helios and Kabi. The former is a private healthcare provider and the largest hospital operator in Germany, and the latter focuses on products and services in medical technology and biopharmaceuticals, in particular with dialysis and renal products and disposables. Fresenius Helios generated a revenue of over 12 billion U.S. dollars in 2023, with Fresenius Kabi following with a revenue of eight billion U.S. dollars. Worldwide, there were almost 194 thousand employees of Fresenius, an increase of almost 30 thousand since 2019.
