Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea - statistics & facts
In its inaugural year in 1983, Tokyo Disneyland nearly cracked the 10 million visitor mark, announcing itself onto Japan's amusement and theme park scene spectacularly. More than 40 years have passed since then, and the Disney Resort craze in Japan has not declined one bit, quite the opposite. Since its inauguration, the park has expanded significantly, adding further shows and landmark attractions to its repertoire. In 2001, Tokyo DisneySea, which has a maritime theme and was designed to attract adult customers, was opened next to Disneyland, effectively doubling the floor space of attractions and facilities and leading to a further increase in visitors.
