Singles in Australia contribute considerably to the nation’s economy. On average, Aussie singles are spending tens of billions of dollars annually on dating. Single millennials are the biggest spenders, reporting an average spend of close to 180 Australian dollars per date. While Australian singles are open to a range of methods of meeting prospective partners, only a small share of Australians report spending money on online dating services. Nonetheless, online dating services remain popular in the country. Dating apps such as Tinder, Hinge, and Bumble have millions of users in Australia, with the latter reporting tens of thousands of downloads per month recently.
