Australia ranks among the world's happiest countries. Known colloquially as the ‘Lucky Country’, Australia is globally renowned for its laid back lifestyle, natural wonders, and warm climate. Nonetheless, the Australian population is not immune to mental health problems. In 2024, the majority of adults in Australia stated that mental health is the biggest health problem facing the country, and nearly half of the country’s adult population had suffered a mental disorder throughout their lifetime. Mental health is described as the state of one’s emotional, psychological, and social well-being. According to the World Health Organization, good mental health is underpinned by a person’s ability to cope with everyday stress, realize their potential, work, and contribute productively to society.
