Nuclear powerplants have played a pivotal role in the country’s energy sector, accounting for nearly 45 percent of the total electricity generation. Fossil fuels, such as natural gas and coal, were the second most-used source of power in the country as of 2023, while solar energy accounted for over 18 percent of the electricity generated.
