Between 2007 and 2018, the share of female students entering into academic level education in the Netherlands was consistently higher than the share of male students who did so. In the academic year 2017/18, close to ** percent of female first year bachelor and doctoral students in the Netherlands entered into academic studies, while the share of male students who began academic studies in the same year was just over ** percent.
