Oatly AB, which was founded in 1985 and is based in Malmö, Sweden, reached its highest amount of net sales in 2024 with approximately 3.7 billion Swedish kronor. In this year, the company producing oat drinks and various organic products made a loss of roughly 700 million Swedish kronor.
Swedes seemed to be interested in buying organic products in 2023. The share of organic products in the total food and non-alcoholic beverages revenue in the retail trade sector in the country was highest for fish, amounting to around 16 percent. Fruit followed closely, ahead of coffee, tea, and cocoa. That year, organic dairy products such as milk and cheese had a share of just over six percent.Â
Another noteworthy Scandinavian company operating in the plant-based food products industry is Naturli’ Foods A/S. The Danish producer offers plant-based alternatives to dairy products, meat and health food. Its profit fluctuated in recent years, peaking at the end of the shown period (2013 to 2024), reaching almost 18 million Danish kroner.
