The number of dogs rescued in Spain decreased steadily over the period of time under consideration, ranging from 108,300 dogs in 2013 down to 104,700 in 2018. In 2019, however, the number of stray dogs rescued rose sharply, with figures amounting to over 183,100 that year. Since then, the number has fluctuated slightly, reaching 173,900 stray dogs rescued in 2024.
