In 2024, coal got ahead of the natural gas and became the most-used fuel in electricity generation in Turkey, with a total of terawatt-hours generated. By comparison, natural gas generated about **** terawatt-hours of electricity. Meanwhile, electricity generated from renewables was higher than natural gas for the first time in 2023 and reached **** terawatt-hours in 2024.
