In the period from 2013 to 2018, the market share of Benelli in Italy increased significantly from 0.35 percent in 2013 to 2.31 percent in 2018. In other words, this was an increase of close to two percentage points. These numbers may seem low at the first glance, but in the case of Benelli, it meant that the market share grew more than six times between 2013 and 2018. Benelli is one of the oldest Italian motoped/motorcycle manufacturers and was recently acquired by the Chinese company Qianjiang Group.
Motorcycles in Italy In 2017, Benelli sold 2,040
motorcycles in Italy. By comparison, Honda sold over 50 thousand motorcycles, whereas the brand Piaggio sold more than 31 thousand and Yamaha more than 29 thousand motorcycles. That year, Benelli was ranked fifteenth on the list of manufacturers selling motorcycles in Italy. The
most sold type of motorcycle in Italy in 2017, was naked motorcycles, also called standard motorcycles or roadsters.
Daily modes of transportation in Italy
The results of the
ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ Global Consumer survey conducted in Italy in 2019, showed amongst others the modes of transportation the respondents used for their daily commute to work, school or university. In short, 72 percent of the Italians answered that they used a car, while only 24 percent answered public transportation and ten percent answered bicycle. Merely three percent answered that they used their own motorcycle to commute daily.
