Trucks are categorized as follows:
Semi-light: Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) between 3.5 and 6 metric tons.
Light: GVW between 6 and 10 metric tons.
Medium: GVW between 10 and 15 metric tons.
Semi-heavy: Trucks with a GVW of 15 metric tons or more, and a maximum traction capacity of less than/equal to 45 metric tons; and truck tractors with a GVW of 15 metric tons or more, and a Combined Gross Weight (CGW) of less than 40 metric tons.
Heavy: Trucks with a GVW of 15 metric tons or more, and a maximum traction capacity of more than 45 metric tons; and truck tractors with a GVW of 15 metric tons or more, and a CGW of 40 metric tons or more.
