ASML's number of employees increased year-by-year and as of 2024, ASML reached 44,027 employees worldwide. Examining the numbers of employees distributed by region, most of ASML employees worked in Europe, with 25,848 employed individuals. The company had 9,699 and 8,480 employees in Asia and the United States, respectively. 

Dutch semiconductor industry

On a country level, the Netherlands is an important market, home to many advanced players in the semiconductor industry. The Netherlands is regarded as being one of only a few countries in the world, together with the likes of the U.S. and Japan, to have a complete semiconductor industry value chain within its borders. This includes applied research, chip design, chip architecture, the production of chips, the equipment required to make them, and system integration and applications.

Chip production and equipment

The Netherlands is also home to several companies that provide equipment to the semiconductor manufacturing industry, including ASML. Headquartered in Veldhoven, the company generated revenues of 27.56 billion euros in 2023 and is the one of the largest suppliers of photolithography systems for the semiconductor industry worldwide.
