A 2022 survey conducted by the UK Department for Business Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) found that ** percent of the respondents in the United Kingdom neither support nor oppose fracking for the extraction of gas to generate heat and electricity. However, while almost ** percent of the respondents to a similar survey did not have an opinion on the matter in 2017, this figure decreased over the past few years. In 2022, ** percent of the respondents supported this method of extraction, while over ** percent of them were opposed to it.
