Industrial enterprises are classified by the source as:
Large when having 1,000 or more employees and 400 million yuan or more annual revenue.
Medium-sized when having 300 to less than 1,000 employees and 20 million to less than 400 million yuan annual revenue.
Small when having 20 to less than 300 employees and three million to less than 20 million yuan annual revenue. As only enterprises with an annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more are included in the statistic at hand, the category of small enterprises in this case refers to enterprises that have a revenue of 20 million yuan or more, but do not reach the threshold of having at least 300 employees, and therefore fall under the category of small enterprises.
Figures for earlier years have been taken from previous publications.
