In 2022, around 22 percent of patients from Catalonia were on a surgical waiting list, making it the autonomous community with the highest share of patients waiting for surgery in Spain. Andalusia followed, with about 18 percent of people waiting for surgery, while in Madrid, 10 percent of patients were awaiting a medical operation that year.
