The government of Mexico devoted 193.75 billion Mexican pesos to security institutions in 2019. Mexico's spending on public security agencies include the budget allocated for the Navy, the Army, the Public Security Secretariat and the Secretariat of the Interior. Since 2006, these funds have grown almost four-fold, based on nominal prices. In 2019, the Mexican government's direct spending on violence containment reached half a trillion Mexican pesos.
