As of January 1, 2015, France recorded more than three million secondary residences on its territory. Furthermore, the French region with the most numerous secondary homes was Occitania at this date. Overall, a majority of second homes were located in coastal regions, such as Provence-Alpes-Côtes d'Azur or New Aquitaine, in France at the beginning of 2015. The French region with the fewest second homes that year was the Grand Est.
