The amount of heat consumed from solid biomass in Austria fluctuated over the years, peaking at 4.14 million metric tons of oil equivalent in 2017. Between 2012 and 2018, figures decreased by roughly 0.2 million metric tons of oil equivalent. In 2018, heat consumed from biomass amounted to 3.89 million metric tons of oil equivalent. In that same year, the European Union consumed a total of 78.82 million metric tons of oil equivalent from solid biomass.
