As of August 2019, it was estimated that WhatsApp groups were particularly popular among millennials and members of Generation X in Argentina: more than nine out of ten people in those age groups used the messaging app to group together online. Meanwhile, Instagram and Twitter were both more appealing to Generation Z, as ** percent and ** percent of centennials in Argentina were estimated to use the respective platforms.

Generational shifts

The percentage of population using the internet in Argentina has increased for nearly two decades and in 2017, practically three out for persons in the South American country had accessed the web. Yet the share of Argentines who said they had not used any social network has risen. This suggests that younger people may be less interested in this type of online service.

More online networking

Nevertheless, the overall number of social network users in Argentina is predicted to keep increasing in the near future, reaching **** million by the end of 2020. Besides WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, also YouTube is considered one of the most popular social networks in the country, with almost half of Argentines interviewed in 2018 stating that they had used Google’s online video-sharing platform.
