In 2019, about **** percent of abortions in Italy were undergone by foreign women from countries with high migratory pressure. This statistic shows regional differences in this figure. According to the study results, women with these characteristics accounted for more than ** percent of voluntary interruptions of pregnancy in both Umbria and Veneto. In general, the share of voluntary abortions undergone by foreign women was higher in the Northern regions than in the Southern ones. This is also because the share of women coming from countries with high migratory pressure is higher in the Northern regions.
