Production of dairy products in France

In 2020, the number of enterprises manufacturing dairy products amounted to close to - a figure that has been rather stable in recent years. In the dairy-loving country, besides the production of packaged milk, most of the dairy products produced were fresh perishable dairy products.  

Sales and consumption of dairy products in France

France is one of the main consumer countries of dairy products in Western Europe. Indeed, French households’ total consumption of fresh perishable dairy products for instance has remained close to *** million tons annually in recent years.
Regarding sales of organic dairy, a majority of the sales value of organic dairy products is carried out in retail stores, followed - at a distance - by specialized organic stores.
