Between 2013 and 2019, the milk consumption in the Netherlands continuously decreased. In 2013, approximately *** million liters of milk were consumed in the Netherlands. By 2019, this had decreased to roughly *** million liters. Milk, however, was not the only category experiencing hard times. A similar trend can be seen in the consumption volume of dairy drinks, which fell by roughly eight percent in the same period.
 Per capita consumption
 
As expected, this decrease in the total milk consumption also resulted in a fall of the per capita consumption of milk in the country. In 2010, the Dutch on average drank just over ** liters of milk per person. Seven years later, the per capita consumption of milk was just over ** liters on average.
 Semi-skimmed milk most popular 
 
The majority of the milk consumption in the Netherlands consisted of semi-skimmed milk in 2016. Semi-skimmed milk accounted for nearly ** percent of the total household consumption that year. By comparison, only *** percent of all milk consumed in the country was skimmed milk.
