The state of Chhattisgarh in India, had motor vehicle fines which amounted to approximately 130 billion Indian rupees at the end of fiscal year 2016. About 87 percent of the tax revenue was generated from high speed diesel and motor spirit by the central government. Road tax across the country continued to stay above the goods and services tax.
