Commercial airlines change in passenger traffic in Europe 2013-2025
Between 2013 and 2019, passenger traffic on commercial airlines in Europe was mostly stable. However, the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic caused passenger traffic to decline by ** percent in 2020. In the aftermath, year-on-year growth figures turned positive again, most notably in 2022, when passenger traffic surged by *** percent compared to the previous year. In 2025, the number of passengers was estimated to have grown by *** percent, with a further 2** percent increase forecasted for 2026.
