*The survey participants were Net Asia Research Internet Monitoring members who owned a private passenger car and drove once a month or more. The survey arbitrarily picked valid responses for its sample, comprising equal parts of male and female participants in four same-sized age groups.
**Respondents received the following for their travel distance estimation:
- 3,000 km or less: not driving much
- 3,000 to 5,000 km: mainly for nearby shopping
- 5,000 to 7,000 km: one-way commute to work or school of around 30 minutes
- 7,000 to 9,000 km: use on free days, sometimes for travel
- 9,000 to 11,000 km: one-way commute to work or school of around one hour
- 11,000 to 16,000 km: long distances every day 16,000 km or more
