Since 2010, the per capita consumption of sugar and similar products decreased in Norway. Overall, it amounted to a consumption volume of around ** kilograms per Norwegian in 2024. In 2022, manufacturers operating in the cocoa, chocolate and sugar confectionery industry generated a revenue of approximately *** billion Norwegian kroner.
Mondelez, the American confectionery, food and beverage company, had a share of ** percent on the Norwegian sugar confectionery and pastilles market. It was ahead of the confectionery producer Nidar, which belongs the Orkla Group from Norway (market share of ** percent) as well as the Swedish confectionery company Cloetta (market share of **** percent). Thus, in 2020, Mondelez was the largest player on this market.  
When looking at the international trade in sugar confectionery, it is noticeable that Norway imported a way higher value into the country than it exported from the country. In 2023, the import value of sugar confectionery into Norway amounted to *** billion Norwegian kroner, while the export value was around ** million Norwegian kroner.
