In 2023, the construction and automotive industries accounted for more than half of the steel consumed in the European Union. The automotive category experienced the largest consumption increase, while the metalware sector saw a significant consumption decrease. However, despite this decrease, the share of metalware in the total finished steel demand of the European Union grew by *** percentage points.Â
