Between 2010 and 2023, the number of consumers of pharmaceutical drugs in Italy increased overall. According to the data, the highest figure was recorded in 2019, when approximately 25.9 million drug consumers were recorded in the country. The next year, this number dropped to just below 23.9 million, the lowest figure registered in the period under consideration. As of 2023, roughly 24.9 million Italians took medicine in the two days preceding the survey.
