In Sweden, the share of organic fish in the total food and non-alcoholic beverages turnover in the retail trade sector was highest in 2019, closely followed by organic fruit as well as organic coffee, tea and cocoa products. As of 2019, ICA was the leading Swedish retailer selling these organic food and beverages, measured by organic food sales. In this year, the supermarket chain sold organic food and beverages with a value of billion Swedish kronor. In the ranking, it was followed by Systembolaget, foodservices and Coop.

ICA grocery stores 

ICA Sweden is the leading grocery retailer in the country. In the period from 2009 to 2019, the revenue of organic food product sales of the grocery stores fluctuated. Since 2013, it increased overall from *** billion Swedish kronor to *** billion Swedish kronor. During this period, ICA invested in expanding its organic food product assortment and introduced many new products.

In Sweden, beverages with an alcohol content higher than *** percent are only allowed to be sold by Systembolaget, a government-owned chain of liquor stores. In the years from 2013 to 2019, the share of organic alcoholic beverages sold at Systembolaget grew constantly. As of 2019, percent of the total volume of alcoholic beverage sales were organic.
