The share of Swedish children between one and five years attending preschool in Sweden increased over the past 10 years. In 2013, 84.2 percent of children in preschool age in Sweden attended preschools, a share that had increased to 86.6 percent by 2023. Preschool education in Sweden is voluntary, and is a combination of early childhood education and child care.
