Egg imports to Germany have been fluctuating in recent years. After a peak in 2010 of almost *** billion, numbers have been dwindling, with around **** billion eggs imported in 2023.

The numbers presented in this statistic are influenced by various factors, some of them being that Germany has its own established agricultural industry and therefore provides eggs domestically, as well as the fact that importing eggs is more difficult than transporting them within the country. Germany does also export eggs, where changing volumes have been recorded as well. Most recent figures saw egg exports amounting to **** billion eggs in 2023. 

Regular consumption

Per capita egg consumption in Germany has remained stable between *** and *** eggs per year. This added up to just under ** billion eggs consumed in Germany in 2023.
