Challenges of an aging population
As the average age of the population gets older, the UK will face numerous challenges in adapting to this demographic change. With fewer people in the labor market, the government will raise less revenue, and struggle with increased expenditure on pensions. The UK is by no means alone in facing this challenge, with several countries, particular in Southern Europe and East Asia, facing similar demographic challenges. In 2050, for example, it is expected that **** percent of the population of South Korea will be aged 65 or over.
