Cannabis is by far the most used drug across the population of the European Union, with over 31 percent using at some point during their lifetime. Followed by cocaine, which *** percent have used in their life, and then MDMA, with *** percent of individuals having used it. 

Highest users of cannabis Europe

Spain had the highest prevalence of cannabis use among adults in Europe as of 2024, with nearly *** percent of the population consuming cannabis. This was followed by France and Italy, with **** percent of their population using cannabis.

Dangerous side to drugs

In 2020, ** percent of those who died as a result of drug use in Europe were aged between 40 and 64 years, while ** percent of drug deaths were among ** to **. Estonia was the country in Europe with the highest incidence of drug deaths in 2023, at *** deaths per million population.
