In Lithuania in 2023, **** people per million population (pmp) were diagnosed with HIV as a result of injecting drug use, this was the highest rate of any European country. HIV can spread among drug users due to sharing of needles, syringes and other such injecting equipment. Latvia had the second-highest incidence of HIV due to drug use at **** diagnoses pmp, and then Greece at *** cases of HIV pmp.
