The source adds the following: Beginning in 2022, this indicator is based on a modified version of the question used from 2015 to 2021. Respondents are asked which health care providers they regularly consult with. This indicator is based on those who answered: family doctor or general practitioner, medical specialist, nurse practitioner, or other. Data for the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) are collected yearly from a sample of approximately 65,000 respondents.

*Since 2022, figures are for those aged 18 years and over. Previous years are based on those aged 12 years and over.

**Due to changes resulting from the 2015 Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) redesign, which includes an updated collection strategy, revised sample design, and significant content adjustments, caution should be taken when comparing data from previous cycles to data released for the 2015 cycle onwards.

In 2023, around ** percent of Canadians aged 18 and over stated that they have a regular medical doctor. In other words, **** million Canadians see a doctor regularly. This has dropped compared to the previous year. Before 2023, the share of Canadians having a regular medical practitioner fluctuated around ** percent.
