Citation formats

BT maintained their position as the largest landline supplier in the United Kingdom (UK) in terms of market share in 2020, holding on to a ** percent share of the market. While their share of the market shrank compared to 2019, major competitors of BT suffered similar contractions just as suppliers at the smaller end of the market made minor gains.

Falling revenue from fixed-line telephony

Fixed-line telephony remains a significant source of revenue for BT, despite revenue from this segment falling in recent years. Fixed-line network access and call revenue generated more than *** billion British pounds per quarter for BT during the first three quarters of 2012. This fell to *** million British pounds by the third quarter of 2018. Annually, the amount fell from **** billion British pounds in 2010, to **** billion British pounds in 2017. Drops in revenue are naturally linked to falling residential call volumes, with **** billion minutes worth of calls made during the first quarter of 2012, compared with the **** billion minutes made during the third quarter of 2017.
