Overall publisher book sales revenue in the United Kingdom increased in 2019 compared to the previous year, but some categories did better than others. Sales revenues for children’s books and non-fiction/reference books were up, whereas academic/professional and fiction book sales revenue fell slightly in 2019.

Books sold in high volumes

Higher sales volume means higher sales revenue. The year 2018 saw some great book releases with bestsellers flying off the shelves in the millions. Among the list of bestsellers were works of fiction, children’s books and cooking/healthy eating books. Statistics show that in 2019 there were more authors, writers and translators in the UK than there were in 2018.
