* The sample was conducted with the sampling agency Research Now to create a representative sample of theatre attendees in the UK. The survey was complemented with attendess from abroad: 1,006 theatre attendees from the UK, 200 attendees from the US, 100 from Australia, 100 from Ireland and 50 from Germany. Non-UK samples were indicative, not representative.
The source indicates: For the purposes of this research, we defined ‘theatre’ as plays, musical, opera, dance and other performances excluding comedy and music.

This statistic displays theater attendance among age groups in the United Kingdom as of May 2013. The likelihood of such attendance was highest among respondents aged 16 to 19, at 87 percent of respondents. Those aged between 45 and 54 were statistically the least likely to attend theater performances.
