The revenue from ethical clothing sales in the period between 2014 and 2020 has been on an upward trend. The revenue from the ethical consumer market in 2020 was ** million British pounds. Compared to 2015, this is ** million pounds higher. This is similar to the revenue trend seen from ethical cosmetic sales and fair-trade food and drink sales in the UK. The sales revenue from ethical cosmetics in the UK from 2008 to 2020 doubled in value, starting at *** million British pounds in sales and reaching *** million pounds in 2020. The sales revenue from fair-trade food and drink have an even larger market than that from ethical cosmetics. In 2020, sales revenue from fair-trade food and drink reached *** billion pounds.
Revenue of vegetarian and plant-based products in the UK
One of the easiest ways for consumers to reduce their carbon footprint and, in the process, to improve their health and be ethically minded is to reduce consumption of animal and meat-products. Unfortunately, the sales revenue of vegetarian products and plant-based alternatives in the UK from 2010 to 2018 has struggled. However, since 2016 these products seem to be gaining popularity once more. Plant-based alternatives could be the key to boosting revenue, since when combined with the revenue from vegetarian products, sales reached *** billion British pounds in 2018.
