The people who occupied privately rented homes in England from 2019 to 2020 varied by household type. The largest share of respondents in the category of private renters were couples with dependent child(ren), with a share of **** percent of private renters. With a share of **** percent, more than twice as many private renters were couples with no dependent child(ren) when compared to lone parents with dependent child(ren) (** percent) at that time. Lone parents with dependent and independent child(ren) made up the smallest share of social renters at that time, a share of *** percent. In 2020, there were around **** million privately rented homes in England.
