Many Italian households are facing financial difficulties in meeting their living expenses, with wages unable to keep up with rising costs. Although inflation dropped below the two percent target in 2025, three quarters of Italians still consider it one of the most urgent issues for the government to address. After a period of relatively low inflation, Italy was severely impacted by the global energy crisis in 2022, due to his heavy reliance on fossil fuels imports for electricity production. While energy prices have stabilized since, Italians still perceive inflation to be higher than the actual one, reflecting ongoing struggles to manage the cost of living.
