In the 2020 fiscal year, around ** percent of FCA's global revenue came from business activities in North America. Italy was FCA's second-largest market in 2020.
Unlocking the electric vehicle potential
Rising demand for electric vehicles is causing auto manufacturers to develop new technologies quickly or risk falling far behind. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles had been reluctant to venture into electrification, and other brands filled the market. In 2019, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced plans to design battery electric vehicles.
Merger to boost electric strength
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced it will merge with France-based manufacturer PSA Peugeot Citroen. The merger was completed in early 2021. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is expected to gain access to some of PSAs electric insight. PSA in return will hope to gain access to the North American market. Stellantis, the merger makes the new conglomerate the fourth largest vehicle manufacturer in the world. The company’s new headquarters are in the Netherlands.
