Gold trade in the United States
The United States imported an estimated *** metric tons worth of gold for consumption purposes in 2025. This was the biggest increase in import volume reported by the North American country since the year 2020. Most of the gold shipments came from Mexico – accounting for more than ** percent – with other important trading partners including neighboring country Canada, as well as Colombia. Meanwhile, the volume of gold exported from the United States jumpped to an estimated *** metric tons in 2025.Â

This has influenced the price of gold on the global market, which is an important indicator of the global economy.
